The Reliance Foundation Odisha High-Performance Center athletes are off to a strong start in 2022!
In just three months, 12 athletes competed in five competitions. While these athletes train intensely throughout the year to prepare for competitions, Reliance Foundation and the Odisha government work together to ensure that they have access to world-class infrastructure and facilities.
With a lot of national and international competitions lined up in the year 2022, the RF Odisha HPC athletes stand prepared to compete. Check out the competitions that the athletes have been a part of so far:
1. 81st All India University Athletics Championship for Men
Just 4 days into 2022, athletes geared up for the 81st All India University Athletics Championship for Men in Mangalore. The Championship that went on from 4th January to 7th saw 7 RF Odisha HPC Athlete compete in various events:

With a superb timing of 10.50s, Amlan Borgohain secured the silver medal in the 100M Finals and Swadhin Majhi bagged the bronze with a jump of 2.08 meters in the high jump finals event.
In the month of February, a total of 4 RF Odisha HPC Women athletes went on to take part in the All India University Athletics Championship for Women in Bhubaneswar.

Jyothi Yarraji earned the gold medal for 100m hurdles with an exceptional timing of just 13.72 seconds, outpacing her competition.
Furthermore, with this win, she also earned an automatic qualification to the World University Games. Jyothi now has her focus set on breaking the National Record!
3. 1st Indian Open Jumps Competition 2022
Three RF Odisha HPC athletes competed in the 1st Indian Open Jumps Competition 2022 to begin the month of March. The one-day competition in Trivandrum saw the athletes take part in the following events:

Following an amazing start to the year, Swadhin Majhi added another medal to his year’s tally. After clearing the 2.09 meters mark in the High Jump event of the 1st Indian Open Jumps Competition, 2022, Swadhin grabbed another bronze.
4. State University Meet
The hustle in March continued as the State University Meet saw 5 athletes compete in 5 different events at Berhampur, Odisha. Check out the athletes that were a part of the 3-day competition:

5. Indian Grand Prix -1
The Indian Grand Prix -1 in Trivandrum, Kerala saw Amlan Borgohain win his second medal of the year. After bagging the silver medal in the 81st All India University Athletics Championship for Men, Amlan went a step ahead and finished with a gold medal this time.
6. Indian Grand Prix -2
In the final week of March, two RF Odisha HPC Athletes - Pragyan Sahu and Susmita Tigga competed in the Indian Grand Prix -2. Here are the events the athletes competed in:

The athletes ended the month of March with medals and personal bests. Pragyan and Susmita both won their first medal of the season as they came away with a bronze each.
In addition to that, Pragyan completed the 400M Hurdles event in 59.22 seconds to achieve her PB while Susmita Tigga completed the 3000M steeplechase event in 11:25 minutes as she gained an unofficial PB as well.
7. 25th National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship

With a National Record, 5 medals, and 4 Personal Bests, the 25th National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship saw RF Odisha HPC Athletes dominate the proceedings.
The headlines were made by Amlan Borgohain as he engraved his name in the record books after clocking 20.52s in the 200M Men’s Finals. Winning the gold and marking his Personal Best, he broke the previous record of 20.63s.
Jyothi Yarraji won Gold in the Women’s 100M Hurdles Final with a fantastic performance of 13.09s. Even though she broke the previous national record of 13.38 set two decades earlier, her record will not count because the wind speed was +2.1 m/s.
Moumita Mondal sealed a silver medal in the Women’s 100M Hurdles Final and recorded a PB with a timing of 13.78s.
With a timing of 14.67s, Graceson Jeeva set his Personal Best in the Men’s 110M Hurdles Final.
With more events like the State Championship, Khelo India University games, and Indian Grand Prix 3 & 4, the RF Odisha Athletes continue to train and work hard.
