Fr. Agnel College secure their place in the Goa finals

Goa hosted the last of its City Championships semifinal today while the league and qualifier stage of various categories continued at different cities.

Goa hosted the concluding semifinal in the College Boys category between Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce and Fr. Agnel College of Arts & Commerce. A thrilling game which saw end to end stuff on most occasions took a moment of brilliance to open the scoring. Mohammad Hasan Haider Khan opened the scoring for Government College with a well taken freekick but the lead couldn’t last long as Ganesh Thakur equalized for Fr. Agnel College Of Arts & Commerce in the next two minutes trough another freekick. The teams went into the break, all square at 1-1. Second half was a different ball game altogether with both teams failing to create clear cut chances for long moments of the game. It all changed minutes before the full-time whistle when Chandan Gawas from Fr. Agnel College Of Arts & Commerce scored in the eighty eighth minute to take his side to the City Championship finals. An unforgettable moment for the youngster!

Ahmedabad hosted the opening game of the day where Ahmedabad International School registered a 4-0 win against Nirmal School. Kendriya Vidhyalaya repeated the previous scoreline in their win over R P Vasani scoring three quick goals in the second half. Prakash HR Secondary School's 3-0 win over Anand Niketan Satellite Campus was a complete and dominating performance. Zydus School Of Excellence continued their impressive run in the tournament with a brilliant 7-0 victory over A G High School & G D Pari Higher Secondary School.

Coming down the west coast, in Pune, Vidya Bhavan High School grabbed a stunning 5-2 win over St. Josephs High School Boys. Singhad Spring Dale Public School registered a 3-1 win over St. Josephs High School! Mumbai also hosted multiple games today with KES College scraping through a narrow 1-0 victory over Smt. MMK College thanks to a well taken penalty. It was a day to forget for Smt. MMK College who faced another 3-0 defeat against Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls High School in the School Girls match.

St. Anees Convent School were ruthless in their 5-2 win over St. Soldier Divine Public School in Chandigarh. Delhi Public School narrowly edged past Guru Nanak Public School thanks to a sensational free-kick which left the keeper with no chance!

On to the eastern coast, Khanna High School cruised to an 8-1 victory over Duillya Panchopara High School in Kolkata. Gangadharpur Vidyamandir also emerged 4-0 victorious against Howrah Zila School in their qualifier game.
