The inaugural year of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) will see a football tournament played across four separate categories that are the Junior Boys category, the Senior Boys category, the Senior Girls category and the College Boys category.

For a player to be eligible to play in the RFYS tournament Junior Boys Category, he or she must at least be a class 7th to 10th student. The Senior Boys & Girls competition will see students presently in their 11th or 12th standard while the college category features students pursuing a graduate degree course in a college or university.

All Senior Boys and College Boys qualifying matches will be 60-minute long, while the group and knockout rounds will feature full 90-minute games. The Senior Girls competition will have matches of 60 minutes with the exception of the semi-finals and final, which will be 90 minutes in duration. The junior boys will only have 60-minute matches throughout the tournament.

Teams must also register a preliminary minimum squad of fifteen players and a maximum of twenty-five. However, every participating team must indicate its first-choice 18 players which they nominate as their final squad. It must also be noted that once the original list of 25 players is announced, replacements for the first choice 18 players can be nominated only from the list of remaining 7 registered players.
