Action kicks off in Guwahati as NPS International School register biggest win of the day

The Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) football tournament began at Guwahati and continued in Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Delhi on Friday. Matches in Mumbai took place at Astro Park - Lions Club, Milan Subway, Saket Ground, Thane and St. Xaviers Ground, Parel.
The Junior Boys category games in Mumbai at Astro Park - Lions Club, Milan Subway, saw Khernagar Municipal Secondary School dish out a 10-0 thumping to Cama Road Municipal Urdu School No.3, while Kherwadi Municipal MPS School and Marol BMC Hindi School No.3 registered 2-0 and 3-1 wins over Koliwada BMC Urdu School No.2 and Bandra Petit Municipal School respectively.
The sole Senior Boys category match saw Dhirubhai Ambani International School beat Sonopant Dandekar Junior College 4-1. Sathaye College defeated ML Dahanukar College of Commerce 4-2 in the only College Boys category game of the day.
The Pune leg saw games being held at Agashe College; TELCO Ground, Ajmer and PDFA Ground, Dhobarwadi. St. Vincent's High School, Ornellas High School and Priyadarshani High School, all qualified for the next round after comfortable wins in their Junior Boys category.
However, Global Indian International School had to fight for a place in the next round after their Junior Boys category match against Indira National School ended all square at 1-1 in regulation time. After a nervy shoot-out, Global Indian International School eventually sneaked into the next phase of the tournament courtesy of a 5-4 win on penalties.
The two College Boys category matches in Pune saw Nowrosjee Wadia College beat Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication 1-0 and DY Patil School of Engineering & Technology beat Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Commerce College 7-0.
Junior Boys category matches in Goa witnessed a few high-scoring affairs at Fr. Agnel Ground, Verna and Curtorim Ground. Regina Mundi High School won 8-1 against Our Lady of Merces High School, St. Joseph High School beat Imaculate Heart of Mary High School 7-1 and Santa Cruz High School cruised past Fr. Agnel Central School with a 14-0 win.
The other Junior Boys category games in Goa saw Our Lady Mother of the Poor High School defeat Regina Martyrum High School 3-0, Mushtifund High School edge past Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 3-2 and Damodar Higher Secondary School win a 2-1 thriller against Guardian Angel High School. Infant Jesus High School beat Government High School 1-0 and Vidya Vikas Academy beat Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 6-0 in the two Senior Boys category games at Goa.
The games in Delhi were College Boys category group stage matches that were played at Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Jasola. College of Vocational Studies beat Ramjas College 3-2 in Group G, Motilal Nehru College (Morning) defeated Noida International University 2-1 in Group H and Maharaja Agrasen College beat Sri Venkateswara College 1-0, also in Group H.
There were three Junior Boys category matches held at Royal Global School in Guwahati today. Donbosco School registered a 5-1 win against Bethany School, while Upperdani High School won 5-0 against Tsangpo Valley Academy. However, NPS International School were involved in the biggest win of the day as they brushed aside Dakshingaon High School 16-1.
