RFDL Season 3 Final: Punjab FC Take On East Bengal FC In The Summit Clash

After more than three months of intense action, the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) Season 3 is about to culminate in a thrilling final clash between Punjab FC and East Bengal FC. Muthoot FA took an early lead through Salahudheen when he scored from a simple tap-in after EBFC ‘keeper had parried away a shot from close range. The team from Kerala then doubled their lead before entering the break with a header from a corner. However, East Bengal FC roared back in the second half, leveling the score with two quick headers. Suman Dey's stunning strike gave them a 3-2 lead, but Muthoot FA equalized in stoppage time, forcing the match into a tie-breaker.

Intense drama unfolded in the penalty shootout as well, as the East Bengal FC saved the first shot taken by Muthoot FA. However, Muthoot FA keeper Mohammad Anas lived up to the expectations as he pulled off a great save in EBFC’s third attempt to take it down to the final attempt. The moment Muthoot FA’s final attempt shot went wide, the Red & Gold brigade broke out into wild celebrations. The final score read 4-3 in penalties in favour of the Kolkata giants.
