RF Athletes Shine Bright at the 38th National Games

The 38th National Games kicked off in Uttarakhand with a grand opening ceremony on January 28. A total of 66 RF athletes are in action throughout this sporting event, which spans more than two weeks. Our athletes have already made a solid impression, securing seven medals, with many more expected as the Games progress.

Shooting for Medals
It all started with Gurpreet Singh claiming silver in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event. He made it a double delight by clinching a bronze in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event as well. We had a double podium finish in this event, as Ravinder Singh rose to the occasion with a spectacular performance to win silver.

Our strong run in shooting continued as Palak Gulia claimed silver in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol. She finished second in the qualification round with 580 points. All eyes will now be on Niraj Kumar, who has already qualified for the final in the Men’s 50m 3P Rifle event, as he looks to make his mark.

The highlight of the event so far has been Ashi Chouksey’s National Record-breaking performance in the qualification round of the Women’s 50m 3 Positions Rifle event. She scored 598, surpassing the previous national record of 594 held by Sift Kaur Samra.

Smashing It in Badminton
Elsewhere in badminton, RF athletes have already made a name for themselves. Unnati Hooda won gold in the women’s team event, contributing crucial victories in both singles and doubles matches for Team Haryana. Meanwhile, Rounak Chouhan and Sanskar Saraswat clinched bronze in the men’s team event.

Anupama Upadhyaya brought out her A-game in Uttarakhand, taking home silver after a superlative performance throughout the tournament. Although she lost in the final, her impressive run solidified her status as a force to be reckoned with.

Punching to Glory
Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain has already made her mark in this edition of the National Games, advancing to the semi-finals of the Women’s 75kg boxing event.
